What is a Fire Extinguisher?
A Fire Extinguisher is a fire safety device to extinguish early stage fires quickly and prevent potential hazards. They are lightweight yet control fire before it spreads while saving lives and property.
Why do you think fire extinguishers are important? The reason is simple. It helps to put out small fires. Not only that, by putting out fire at the primary level, It helps us to protect the environment from burning debris and smoke. Types of Fire Extinguishers & It’s Usage
Know about the different types of Fire extinguishers and their uses.
Do you know a single fire suppression device cannot tackle every type of fire? It’s because each extinguisher contains a different type of extinguishing agent that handles different classes of fires. That’s why it's crucial to choose the right fire extinguisher to achieve perfect fire safety.
1. ABC Fire Extinguishers
ABC Fire Extinguishers are one of the multipurpose devices that can put out various classes of Fire. As the name suggests this type is effective for class A, B, and C fires.
2. BC Fire Extinguishers
BC fire extinguishers can put out class B fires involving flammable liquids and gases, oil, solvents, grease, tars, lacquers, and oil best paints. This type is also effective for Class C fires, involving energized electrical equipment.
3. Clean Agent Fire Extinguishers
It is a type of gaseous fire suppression. The gas reduces the oxygen level of the fire impeding the chain reaction. Clean agent fire extinguishers are non conductive, safe, eco friendly, and clean.
4. CO2 Fire Extinguishers
The carbon dioxide extinguisher is one of the cleanest extinguishers that doesn't require any cleanup. CO2 fire extinguishers use carbon dioxide to displace oxygen which effectively suffocates the fire.
5. Water Fire Extinguishers
These extinguishers dispense a stream of water to extinguish the fire. Water fire extinguishers are suitable for class A fires.
